I have painted Irises after a gap of few years. All my previous iris paintings have flowers of single colour. The ones now are bouquet of Irises of different colours. One bouquet has been painted with a flower pot and another without one. One has a dark background while the other has a light one. Which one do you think looks better?

Sunflowers bring sunshine in our lives. Sunflowers and Chrysanthemums painting was painted from a birthday bouquet gifted by dear niece. The contrast between the colour of two type of flowers made it an interesting composition. I thoroughly enjoyed painting it. The colour of the vase compliments the flowers.
Another sunflower painting is with blue vase.
And third one is with an ornamental vase.

Celebratory Peonies
After painting many small peony paintings, I was still not done with the peonies. As a result Celebratory Peonies came into being. I have put together peonies of many colours and sizes in this painting. The flowers and buds have been placed at varying angles. I love flowers popping out against a dark background in this painting. I have added many buds; closed and semi open in this painting along with the flowers which serve as eye magnets.

Another peony painting. I am always enamoured by the beauty and scent of peonies. Peony Love is an original oil painting in vibrant colours. It is an attempt to capture the beauty of these gorgeous flowers.
While walking down the street one day in Halifax, I noticed white peonies blooming in all their glory. The landscape was so beautiful that I kept on admiring it for a while. The urge to capture the moment overtook me. The source pictures resulted in the following two paintings.

I am indebted to family and friends who fulfil my requests for taking pictures of flowers all the time. The pictures of flowers serve as useful study material. The paintings are never the exact replica of photographs.
I always wonder at the diversity of flora and fauna. How best things in nature are there for all of us to see and appreciate. In the humdrum of daily life, we are always short of time to take a pause and soak it all in.
